How can we find moments of space and silence

I’m always typing away from a different locations these days. It seems like there are unending tasks to accomplish or simple tasks to check off the list. I still find time for an hour of meditation and chanting everyday and every other day an hour of yoga. How could we build in sacred space for ourselves everyday? Even I found it hard these days to balance it all. It is like anything in life, we have to build habits for success. I know it’s such a business term. I had a weekend of yoga intensive through zoom. It was so difficult to concentrate because yoga is a very detailed practice and spending hours watching my teacher on screen is so difficult. I barely want to do it for work and now even in my leisure I also have to do the same. But these are the changes of today. We have to practice flexibility through this special time. Even though, I find myself resistant to change. Change is the big climax here. Flexibility is how we get over the hill. So how is it we can practice more flexibility?

  1. Setting a time for meditation, yoga, or me time.
  2. Setting a routine for waking up and de-briefing the day
  3. We could do more things, we are uncomfortable with.

These are the 3 hacks, I found helpful for my daily schedule and how to generate peace and calm throughout the day while keeping yourself flexible to practice open mindedness. Flexibility of the body and mind is key to having a relaxed perspective on life and overall wellness.

I always keep a calendar of events and to-do list. It would be so difficult to remember everything I must complete by end of day. We can all learn to prioritize what is important every day which translates to an easy week and month. Sometimes, I’m able to prioritize an hour of exercise everyday so that means one would have to choose between yoga or cardio. Some months, I’m less busy so I am able to do both. Whatever it is, you can always have a to-do list so almost every task is checked off. We may not always get it done by that day but we know what is at hand and how to reschedule it.

Second, having a time at the end of your day to debrief and relax before you rest is key to a clear start to the next day. We may want to watch 30 more minutes of Netflix but let’s be real. Is that 30 minutes of Netflix going to change your life? I’m a victim to distractions but when you set a routine it makes it easier for you practice the schedule.

Third, even though you have set a schedule and routine. There are moments in your life that require extra attention. You have to leave space for spontaneous events but no matter what I do not miss the routine of waking up, boiling hot water, and sitting down my meditation cushion for my morning chanting and meditation. Every morning for at least an hour is set aside for that. For one hour a day, I’ll practice yoga, hiking, or cardio. Before I sleep, my sleep time routine is shower, read, and 30 minutes of checking my schedule and to do list that way, when the next day begins. I am more organized. Now, I’m not a perfect human being but when I have at least done 2 of these, my days go on smoothly and I feel totally in flow with the universe. It doesn’t mean things don’t bother me, it just means I am more equipped to handle what life gives me.

Are you in flow with your life? Do you feel like you could have a little calmness throughout the day? Try these 3 steps out and let me know what you think.
